A song I wrote

Wonderful World
Look at the clouds and look at the sun
and all of the fun that's only begun
Look at the birds and look at the bees
and look at the branches dancing on trees
Look at the moon and look at the ocean
waves that are crashing all in one motion
Look at the sand between your toes
look at that flower and how it grows
Oh what a wonderful world, my mind spins and it twirls
at just the thought of living to the fullest
my heart sings a song and my feet want to dance
love makes you fly when you give it a chance
So why are you satisfied living to die?
when dying to live makes you feel alive
so look up and down, and look all around
it's what you make of it not what you take from it
Look at the stars that light up the sky
you're never alone when you look up at night
Look at the colors in this busy city
oh this melting pot's so pretty
Look at this little dot, that is our planet
help it to grow, take some love and you plant it
into a heat or into a soul
and then what you reap will shine like gold
Oh what a wonderful world, my mind spins and it twirls
at just the thought of living to the fullest
my heart sings a song and my feet want to dance
love makes you fly when you give it a chance
so why are you satisfied living to die?
when dying to live makes you feel alive
so look up and down and look all around
it's what you make of ot not what you take from it

Mini Project NUmber 2

The Carbon Cycle

Carbon is the fourth most abundant element in the universe. It is essential to life on earth. In fact, it's presence or absence helps define whether a molecule is considered organic or inorganic. Every organism on earth needs carbon either for structure or energy. Us as humans, need it for both. Through the processs of photosynthesis, plants convert carbon dioxide into carbohydrates. Then, the carbon either goes back out into the atmosphere, is eaten up by animals, or decomposes into the soil for further extraction by plants and useful resources. In water, carbon precipitates to form calcium carbonate which creates limestone and algae, both very useful resources creating suitable environments for their population and sources of carbon for further respiration. Humans have a great impact on the cycle. We burn fossil fuels that release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. When there is more energy reaching the earth from the sun, than what escapes from the earth into space, one of the results can be global warming. Inevitably, all living organims play an inportant role in this necessary process. Trees, animals, water, plants, and humans each have a very important part in this process. I think it's good to learn about the carbon cycle because it allows us to see the role that we play, what kind of effect our actions have on our environment, and what we can do to make our environment better.

Mini Project NUmero 1!!!!!

(Conduct an Internet search to determine in which of the three environmental organization you wish to join. You need to analyze the mission of each organization, then state your reasons for joining a particular one.) Choices: Greenpeace, National Resource Defense Council and Wild Spots Foundation

and the winner is...GREENPEACE USA.

After researching and reviewing all the candidates, i found myself most intrigued by this particular organization. The web page and it's presentation is very appealing to young adults. After reading some of their articles and getting a pretty good picture of what is on their agenda, i find that these issues are very relevant to me and things that appeal to me. One example of this is their news story titled "Scandalous Whale Hunt Has Resumed". Whales are my favorite animal, and immediately after reading this i felt the an immense sense of frustration over the way that people abuse these animals and their habitat. They also have a campaign against kleenex and the ways that they attain their product by destroying beautiful ancient forests to make their DISPOSABLE tissues. In this particular campaign, they have asked people to use their creativity to send in photographs expressing their support for this cause, which definitely strikes a chord with me, because it encourages me to use my creativity for these causes. Yet another awesome thing this organization shares on their site is a quarterly " Guide to Greener Electronics" which shows you how certain large electronics companies are shaping their company to be more environmental friendly. This guide ranks the companies and allows you to see if the company that makes the products that you're paying for and utilizing actually care about making a positive impact in the world around them. This only proves my point that this organization is very culturally relevant, as well as effective. This organization has been around for over 30 years and is still going strong. They continue to stand by their belief that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. They consider their cause a fight to save the world. Fighting against all sorts of global environmental problems such as nuclear testing, destruction of ancient forests, the deterioration of our oceans, and the threat of global warming, etc. The task of saving the world from all these enemies that have risen against it is certainly not an easy one, but it is a task that Greenpeace has taken head on, and they're not backing down, and that's an organization that i want to be a part of. I want to make a difference!
